Our information station, this week, offered some details on the importance of playing with your children. Sometimes, we do not realise just how much learning there is involved in playing. There is always discussion and a development of language and vocabulary and often an opportunity to improve a child's gross motor and fine motor skills.

Our social skills improve as we learn to take turns and share, listening to each other and responding appropriately. Often, when we play with children, we see them repeating the same activity over and over again; this helps them to consolidate their learning and can help them to feel safe. Our role as adults, is to support the children, give them opportunitites to play and to extend their learning.
