Summer 1 Week 2

The Year 1s have enjoyed making our Superhero scarecrow this week! If you are planning on doing the Tadpole Scarecrow Trail this weekend, don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for Y1's Captain America!

We have started to send home sets of real and alien words for your children to practise at home. These are for you to keep and use as you wish at home, but we feel they will hugely support your child's fluency and ability to blend alien words. Thank you in advance for your support!

This week the children have been learning a little more about Australia, particularly Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef. The children have been very persuasive, writing travel posters and super sentences, explaining why people should visit each place!

We've also been consolidating and extending our knowledge of place value by partitioning 2 digit numbers into tens and ones. The children used drawings, bar models, whole part models and dienes to show tens and ones within a number. We also used 100 squares to help us find 10 more and 10 less than a number. Well done Foxes and Badgers, for some marvellous maths this week!
