Coronavirus Update email evening 17.3.20

Good evening All,

Based on what we currently know about staffing levels we will be:-

School will be:

Open tomorrow - all classes

Hot dinners will be:

Served tomorrow as normal

LilyPad will be:

Open tomorrow normal hours

We now have a number of families who have been advised to, or are choosing to for family/health reasons, self-isolate - as far as we know there are no confirmed cases of CV but then, as you know, not everyone is being  tested. We also have chicken pox, scarlet fever and a horrible cold/flu plus a sickness bug!

We have sent home learning packs with the children today, just in case school closes at some point; we will be also providing some other learning support in event of full closure.  If your child was absent today for a normal reason eg dentist, tummy bug i.e. non CV related, then they can collect their packs when next in school.  If you are currently self-isolating, we have put your child’s pack in a covered crate outside the front door of school - please feel free to have someone else collect it between before 7:30 am today/tomorrow. There will be other learning provided and ways of keeping in touch if we experience full school closure.

Can I ask you to use the FAQ on the website before calling school? - we had around 60 calls first thing today and it is difficult to handle this volume.  If you have already told us you are self-isolating you only need to call once a week. If we are unsure of the reason for absence we will call you.

Please note, following guidelines from the Academy Trust, all SEND meetings are cancelled until further notice.  Mrs Salter will be conducting her meetings over the phone.

The government have produced a guide about staying at home - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection - which I will also add to the website.

For younger children or those with SEND, a social story about Coronavirus might be useful - my daughter developed the one below - she is working on an editable version for the website.

Thinks that’s all for tonight:)

Kind regards

Jane
